Students who use Fitness for Life, Fifth Edition or Fitness for Life, Updated Fifth Edition have access to the following resources.

Web Resource: Each chapter of the book includes icons next to topics that have additional information on the student web resource, including vocabulary definitions in English and Spanish. On the web resource, just click the chapter number and then select the desired topic number.

Online Study Guide: The Online Study Guide helps students complete the lessons and activities for the course, and it provides a way for teachers and students to transmit assignments electronically.

Teachers who use Fitness for Life, Fifth Edition or Fitness for Life, Updated Fifth Edition have access to the following resources.

Test Bank: Teachers can use a test bank to create customized chapter and unit tests based on the student text and the Fitness for Life Wraparound Teacher’s Edition and Resources Kit. Access to the test bank and teacher’s edition is free to schools that adopt the student text and is granted by your Human Kinetics K-12 sales manager.

Online Study Guide: Teachers can use the student Online Study Guide (OSG). This open-access resource is designed to help all students master the content in the student text. It’s also useful as an independent study tool or to let students make up missed assignments. The OSG not only helps students review key information from the student text, it also allows teachers to assign work and students to complete work electronically—review questions, self-assessments, physical activities, application worksheets, and other typical assignments. For instructions, see the “Teacher Information” section of the OSG.

Equipment: This equipment list details the items necessary to conduct the lessons (one-semester base plan).

The student interactive web textbook (IWT) contains the same content as the print book but uses interactive audio, video, activity sheets and other great activities to help students engage with the material and enhance learning. The IWT offers audio vocabulary and definitions in English and Spanish. Introductory videos at the beginning of each lesson help students assess their knowledge going in, while videos at the end of each lesson help students put what they’ve learned into context. If your school uses the IWT, your teacher will give you access.

The student web resource provides additional materials related to the lessons in the textbook. These materials include vocabulary definitions in English and Spanish, extra lesson content, links for student research, and additional chapter projects.

The teacher online bundle provides teachers with all the materials they need to teach the course—lesson plans, activity sheets, rubrics, quizzes, slides, newsletters, and other supporting resources. Teachers can easily access the materials on their computers, laptops, or mobile devices, and they can print whatever they need for use in the classroom or in activities.

Access to the teacher online bundle is free to schools that adopt the Fitness for Life: Middle School, Second Edition student text and is granted by your Human Kinetics K-12 sales manager. The teacher online bundle can also be purchased separately.

Parents and other family members of students can review special information for parents about the program. It includes answers to questions such as: What is Fitness for Life? What is the Fitness for Life philosophy? What are the objectives of Fitness for Life? (Parents are also free to access the student web resource linked above.)

Each chapter of the book includes icons next to topics that have additional information on the student web resource. The book has instructions to click on “Student Info” and then click on a topic number. This resource has been improved so you no longer need to click on “Student Info” first. Instead, select the chapter you want to view and then select either vocabulary terms or web topics. If you select web topics, you will be given a list of topics and you can click the “Next” button to go through them sequentially.

The web resource topics include vocabulary definitions in English and Spanish, unit review materials, and “Ask the Author” questions and answers.

The Fitness for Life: Middle School Teacher’s Guide includes five lesson plans for each chapter: two lesson plans for the classroom sessions and three activity plans that supplement and reinforce the classroom content. The bound-in CD-ROM includes activity resources, student worksheets, review quizzes and answer keys, assessment rubrics, and other materials.

Test Bank: Teachers can use a test bank to create customized chapter and unit tests based on the student text and the lesson plans.

Educational Fitness Games: Two online games, Mount Fitness and Tour de Fitness, provide a fun way to review key health-related fitness concepts with students.

Equipment: This equipment list details the items necessary to conduct the lessons (one-semester base plan).
